Our house church meetings are the building blocks and life of our church. It is in these gatherings that we participate in true New Testament living. These times together allow us to form communities that care and minister to every person that enters a home. Enjoyable meals, stories about what God is doing in our lives, teaching from the Bible, the practice of spiritual gifts, Spirit-led worship including guitars and sometimes off-key voices, prayer for the sick, and ministry for those in trying situations are present at most of these meetings.
In these house churches, we have an opportunity to love one another as Christ commanded us. Everyone who comes is welcomed to participate or just observe what is happening. We find that the presence of the Holy Spirit is all-pervasive here: people’s lives are touched by the power of God. Those tired of the formality and tradition of past experiences in church or religion are sure to find these meetings fully alive and anything but formal.
Ultimately, our vision is to establish a local church made up of dozens of these house churches where Christ’s anointed followers preach the good news, express Jesus’ love, meet people’s needs, provide a community for the lonely, heal the sick, and release captives from darkness. Our desire is to see peoples’ lives transformed by the power of God while coming to these house churches.
House church will not be meeting for the summer. In September, we will be launching two house churches in the Fenway and near BU. Stay tuned for details!
We have plans to start new house churches in the coming months near Boston University, the Fens, and Mission Hill.
